Originally a traditional fishing village and with over 5 km of sandy beach, it is now a popular holiday resort
The offshore Medes Islands offer the largest concentration of marine life in the Mediterranean and is famed for the clarity of its water. L’Estartit is the leading diving center on the Costa Brava and excursions are available on the various glass-bottom boats.
For the Golfer, 9 championship courses are within easy reach of the resort.
There are numerous excursions available including Barcelona; famous for the Ramblas, magic fountains, Olympic village, Sagrada Familla Cathedral and Figueres home of the Salvador Dali museum. The Port Aventura theme park can also be visited as a day trip.
L’Estartit is surrounded by culture and many medieval villages, offering superb typical Spanish cuisine at amazingly low prices. It is recommended to hire a car as there are also plenty of pretty coves to explore up and down the coast.

For the Adventurer
If you fancy a cheaper and more adventurous alternative, you could catch the train from Barcelona or Perpignan airports to Estartit. The location is ideal for those of you wishing to drive, England being only 12 hours away, with France, Belgium and Holland even less.
